Mary Zappone

President & CEO

With more than 20 years senior management experience at diverse global companies, Mary Zappone was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of RecoverCare in 2011.

Zappone's skill at transforming processes to drive revenue growth while creating environments that foster breakthroughs from varied, multi-level teams have made her a respected leader throughout her career. A top-tier strategist, she has forged an impressive record of success in areas ranging from merger integration, portfolio management and commercial negotiations to cost reduction initiatives, new product development and performance management systems.

Immediately prior to joining RecoverCare, Zappone served as President of Alcoa's new Oil & Gas unit where she fast-tracked its market entry with five interdependent global contracts and commercialized seven new products. Previously, she has held high-influence management positions with business giants such as Tyco, General Electric, McKinsey & Company and Exxon.

Zappone holds an MBA in Finance/Marketing from Columbia Business School and a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.

With a passion for mentoring colleagues, Zappone has been very active in organizations that encourage women and girls to pursue careers in math and science and has spoken frequently on this topic at major events including the Women's Global Leadership Conference in Energy and Technology and National Math and Science Initiative Young Leaders Program.

Zappone resides in Louisville with her husband and three teenage daughters. A competitive gymnast in high school and varsity diver in college, her leisure pursuits now include playing tennis and doing yoga with her daughters.
