The RecoverCare cost reduction model
Rather than relying solely on short-run pricing tactics, we work with our customers to reduce costs through more disciplined use of RecoverCare products. The RecoverCare cost reduction model places heavy emphasis on contract compliance, use of product selection algorithms, and clinical education as tools of sustainable improvement. Beyond cost reduction, this approach enables clinical leaders to concurrently review performance, and to embrace a proactive mindset with regard to clinical/operational interventions.

Utilization Report
To help customers efficiently manage utilization of their support surfaces, bariatric products and patient safety equipment, RecoverCare employs a sophisticated web-based reporting system, the best in the industry.  Through our Utilization Report (click here for a sample PDF), which is a standard report for RecoverCare customers, we are able to provide Patient Name, Admission Date, Billing End Date, Equipment Utilized, Days Patient Utilized Device and Unit Rental Price for an individual facility or for your entire network.  We also track total patient rentals days if patient has used the device beyond a monthly billing cycle. Our reports are accessible via a username and password on www.recovercare.com.  These reports may also be emailed upon request.

Online Active Rental Report
RecoverCare can also provide your facilities up-to-date reporting on your current rentals with the Online Active Rental Report (click here for an example PDF).  Updated daily, the Active Rental Report details all of the rentals being utilized by your facilities at that time.

Both the Utilization Report and the Active Rental Report contain built in exception reporting.  Notice on both sample reports the rental days highlighted in red.  These marked line items emphasize products that have been on rent above and beyond the reasonable expectations of your facility.  It makes it difficult for rented products to slip through the cracks.  You may set your exceptions at any level you would like - 60 days, 45 days or even 30 days.  As soon as a piece of equipment is rented above that threshold, the line item is automatically highlighted for you to take action.

Support Surface Selection Algorithm
To enable cost reduction through utilization management, RecoverCare's clinical team will also work with you to create a product selection tool, also known as a product algorithm (click here an example algorithm PDF).  This algorithm will allow your caregivers to eliminate guesswork in choosing the proper support surface.  When followed properly, the product algorithm serves to eliminate overuse of higher acuity support surfaces, thus reducing unnecessary rental costs.  This is the most critical tool in our utilization management program. The algorithm's design is a collaboration between the clinical team at the facility/chain and our own clinical representatives.
